Leading & Learning
My Leadership style was born from gratitude. And although Leadership and gratitude aren’t commonly paired together, I’d argue they couldn’t exist on their own.
Considering I am quite outgoing and, with full transparency, love talking to people I’ve never met before, I definitely fit a good bit of the stereotypes. However, I’ve learned the title of “Leader” never looks the same. Leaders can be extroverted and loud, but they can also be introverted and observant. So this presents the question: If no leader presents themselves in the same exact way… what quality do they all share that gives them this honorable title?
The quality I found consistent among all leaders I’ve worked with is the ability to make others feel empowered and understood. Whether they are the loudest in the room or lead by example, they can cultivate positive energy wherever they go.
This is the same approach I take to every team I’m a part of. Whether that’s in school, organizations, or with my friends and family, I want to be that source of positive energy that motivates everyone around me.
Now, how does Gratitude fuel all of this? I was compelled to apply to my first leadership position because I felt so grateful for those who had been leaders and role models in my life. I wanted deeply to keep that chain of support going and become a role model in other people’s lives as well.
